It’s like they don’t even try to look above board anymore.
Around the world, politicians are facing an increasingly disenchanted public who have lost the last vestiges of faith they may have had in their leaders. Voter counts are plummeting, fewer young people are even registering to vote, and splinter parties catering to the disillusioned are shooting up like mushrooms. But the recent photo of the infamous Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati, garlanded with money has left me terminally disgusted.
I mean, what is this folks? How can India claim to be on the verge of super-powerdom, provide just about every western country with their best educated white collar workers, and then allow these people to run the country?
How is it possible?
It’s not bad enough that Indians have to hear almost daily stories of political graft, see the You Tube videos of the obscenely lavish weddings people on the public payroll stage for their children, deal with the traffic jams caused by the SUV’s with police escorts taking middle ranking functionaries to their tailors appointments… Now we have the papers full of stories of party faithful who gave money so it could be used for to adorn CM Mayawati’s jowly neck.
You can just see it can you not? The cab driver and shop keeper, approached for his “donation for Mataji’s garland” cheerfully handing over a Rs 1,000 note for the cause, no doubt feeling it a privilege and a pleasure to subsidize one of the country’s most openly corrupt women.
Just another day’s business in the world’s largest democracy.

She is the same Mayawati whom RNW was praising to the skies, a few years back, while she indulged in shameless corruption in her state!

This `Note Mataji’ is shameless & selfish to the core, a ruthless megalomanic, cunning and cruel. Worthless for any comment. History will dump her in the trash can of Time!
