The Zambian Government intends to turn the TV licence fees into a levy, Ministry of Justice parliamentary chief counsel Patricia Jere told a parliamentary committee yesterday. Ms Jere said when she appeared before the information and broadcasting services committee that the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) amendment Bill would turn the TV licence fee into a levy. She said the collection of the levy would be extended to television set dealers who would be required to collect the levy at the point of selling a television set. The dealers would be collecting 12-month levies and later take the money to ZNBC.
