YLE DG says Digita’s profits ‘raise questions’

Finnish national daily Helsingin Sanomat today quotes Mikael Jugner, the Director-General of the Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE), as saying that the level of profits raked in by TéléDiffusion de France subsidiary Digita raised questions. The Finnish public broadcaster sold Digita to TDF, then part of France Telecom, in 2000 and 2003. Last year, YLE paid Digita 35 million euros for terrestrial distribution services, contributing to a profit ratio of about 40 per cent.
