VOA coverage of State of the Union Address and Democratic Response

The Voice of America will offer extensive live multimedia coverage of President Bush’s State of the Union address in several languages, followed by the Democratic Party response. Reports will be broadcast on radio, television, and the Internet. All coverage begins at 0200 UTC on 1 February. Check www.VOANews.com/affiliates/satellite_schedules.cfm for satellite information. Wednesday’s Talk to America at 1600 UTC will have reaction and analysis.

Streaming:

VOANews.com plans to carry LIVE streaming feeds of the President’s State of the Union Address in English, Persian, and Bahasa Indonesian. The Democratic Response to the State of the Union Address will be streamed live in English soon after the completion of the President’s Address and will be available on demand the next day as well. Links will be available on a special Web page.

On Wednesday, 1 February, VOANews.com will provide on demand video feeds in Windows Media, REAL, and MP3 (podcasting) formats in the following languages: English, French, Spanish, Russian, Bahasa Indonesian, Persian, Turkish, Portuguese, Swahili, and Hausa.

    Will have one of the cable nets on for background noise while reading a book. Probably MSNBC.

    Drove by the NMC in Bethesda this afternoon, the Abc evening news co anchor who was injured from an IED on Sunday in Iraq was flown there today. It’s going to be months before he’s back on the air. It’s the story that’s being ignored in Europe. And Monday BBC America started carrying the full block of BBC World, some of the half hour shows are really awful.
