University satellite channel launches in Gaza

The newly formed “Book” satellite channel, an affiliate of the Islamic University of Gaza, will launch its activity on Nilesat as the first specialised satellite broadcaster from the Gaza strip. The channel will be available on 11393 V. The university’s president, Dr Kamalain Shaath said that the channel has been established in order to develop the values and disseminate ethics and pure Islamic principles.

Palestine Parliament MP and head of the university’s board of trustees, Jamal Khezri said:” Broadcasting the university students’ graduations, the channel has launched its testing activity.” He went on to say that the trial version will run for four months, and following that the channel will start broadcasting its programmes from a special studio located in the university.

Mr Khezri underlined: “The channel is established in order to present a picture of the sieged nation and Palestine’s resistance in the Gaza strip. Moreover it will consider many more things as well.” He went on to say that the Islamic University of Gaza is the greatest university of Palestine whose role extends beyond Gaza’s borders. The newly established channel will help the university to publicise its programmes and activities. Besides encouraging scientific studies it will expand Palestinians’ abilities and innovations.

The channel will broadcast news and programmes of Gaza Islamic University including scientific conferences, study days, public conferences, educational workshops, assessing sessions of MA students’ theses as well as Arab World and Palestinian university news. Dr Kamalain Shaath said that the channel will consider developing training courses in various fields such as family, children and women’s issues.
