The biggest Christmas tree in the world is back!

After a break of two years, on 12 December this year the Gerbrandy tower in IJsselstein, better known to most people as Lopik, will again be transformed into the ‘biggest Christmas tree in the world’. A foundation set up to raise sponsorship money has collected approximately € 65,000 this year. Local residents, as well as transmitter operator Nozema and other commercial sponsors, have contributed to make sure that the 120 lights go on again. Nozema says the lighted mast is clearly visible as far away as Hilversum and Gorinchem.

the lights are now used in car headlamps - the blue type. But the only way to see the lights in Hilversum is to look from the top of the PTT power. The RNW webcam can’t swing round to look that far south, if I recall.

I hope, Andy, you will treat us to a photo of this spectacular sight? Seasons greetings to all at RNW and all correspondents.
