The Thai government needs a legal opinion from the Council of State if it wants to cancel the satellite concession of Thaicom Plc, said Sue Lor-uthai, the Permanent Secretary of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Ministry. He was responding to comments on Tuesday by Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban, who is in charge of security affairs and has been displeased with the performance of Thaicom.
Mr Suthep said a way should be found to cancel Thaicom’s concession for failing to co-operate with government requests to block broadcasts of the red-shirt protesters’ People Channel (PTV).
