South Ossetia accuses Georgia of TV broadcast blockade

georgia-area.jpgThe authorities of the self-proclaimed republic of South Ossetia have accused Georgia of orchestrating an information blockade. “The Georgian leadership, which has been implementing a humanitarian blockade in distant villages, has intensified its information blockade of the Republic of South Ossetia,” the republic’s Information and Press Committee said. “In addition to preventing journalists from objectively covering the situation in the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone, the Georgian special services muffled the republican TV channel ‘Ir’ for two days. This silencing was carried out by Georgia with the aid of special technical devices set up by Ukrainian experts in Georgian territory,” the communication says.
