Universal TV, the main Somali satellite channel based in London, UK is facing its hardest time for years because of its connection with the Islamist terror groups in Somalia. The station has long been involved in fundraising to help the Al-Qaeda linked militants in Somalia such as Al-Shabaab and Hizbul Islam to sustain their insurgency in the country.
Among the problems facing Universal TV are that anyone can use the channel for his/her propaganda and personal attacks by paying a little money. There are charges against the owner of Universal Television, Ahmadey Abubakar, for the actions of his TV station such as raising money from the Somali communities by means of charity but fueling the war in Somalia.
