Satellite broadcasts by international television stations to Iran have been blocked in recent days. Radio Netherlands Worldwide was also affected. RNW’s English and Indonesian-language broadcasts as well as its BVN television signal were disrupted. Shortwave radio broadcasts were not affected.
In a joint statement, three international stations, the BBC, Deutsche Welle and Voice of America said they have proof that Iran is deliberately disrupting the satellite signal. As a result it was impossible to receive broadcasts from these stations for most of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
International telephone lines to Iran were also blocked for many hours. Iran has been celebrating the 31st anniversary of its Islamic revolution this week.

At this moment I can’t receive DW tv and radio on the Hotbird 8 satellite at 11,604 GHz. Can’t Eutelsat do anything about this jamming?

Hello, with the ability of the Iranian government to presently shut or slow to a near standstill internet and satellite communications there is useful though partial substitute. It is the broadcast of high power nightime shorwave transmissions into Iran on flexible frequencies to allude jamming. This type of technology is less susceptible to disruptions than satellite or the internet. Also, it is less expensive and more available to the less well to do of that country, which would be a sensible audience to inform of the events of the day. Lastly, the internet will have to be upgraded, as some are attempting to do now, to oppose the Iran government’s attempts to check and block it for the general public’s sake.
