Russia’s Channel One broadcast to stop in Ukraine by 1 June

The Ukrainian National TV and Radio Broadcasting Council has decided to stop the broadcast of Russia’s Channel One in Ukraine before 1 June. The council explained that he decision is due to the failure of the Channel One administration to adapt channel programmes to Ukrainian laws.

Last November the council temporarily permitted the resumption of the broadcast of Channel One programmes by cable, as the channel administration applied for the adaptation to Ukrainian laws. “The channel did not meet its commitments, and the providers would stop the broadcast,” the council said.

The same measures were applied to the Rossiya and TVC channels last year. The only Russian channel accessible in Ukraine is NTV.
