REM Island has been removed from the North Sea

remisland.jpgThe removal of REM Island, the artificial platform in the North Sea from where offshore radio and TV transmissions to the Netherlands were carried out in 1964, has taken place. Dutch regional broadcaster Omroep Zeeland reports that the top part of the structure arrived in the harbour at Vlissingen around noon today. It will remain on the pontoon that brought it into the harbour until it’s dismantled.
