Radio Pakistan is to set up a 5 kW FM transmitter in Khairpur to inform the people of Northern Sindh about the latest flood situation. This was decided at a meeting held at PBC headquarters in Islamabad today. Chairing the meeting, Director General Murtaza Solangi directed that efforts should be made to install the transmitter within the shortest possible time.
The Director General also directed that middle of the hour special flood bulletins be started from Thursday to abreast the people about the flood situation and the relief activities initiated by the government and different organizations. The bulletin will start at 6.30 am and continue till 10.30 pm.
Radio Pakistan is already broadcasting special transmission since 6th August on its Entertainment Channel FM-101 throughout the country to generate donations for the flood affected people. Live calls are being taken during this transmission. The Flood Information Cell set up at PBC Islamabad is also providing updated information regarding the flood situation.
