Radio Andorra: a hoax?

Our attention was drawn to a Website at www.radioandorre.com which suggests that Radio Andorra might be returning to the air on mediumwave in 2004 after ‘22 years of silence’. A short demonstration audio clip produced by Digital Radio Mondiale is also on the site.

Media Network did a little bit of detective work and we found out that the domain radioandorre.com has been registered by a French dentist! The registration was done via a French company called bookmyname.com. We can find no evidence from official sources that any mediumwave operations from Andorra are either licenced or imminent, especially for a French-speaking audience.

I imagine the French station you hear is Superloustique at Villebon-sur-Yvette, France, with 5 kW. Andorra has not used that frequency for over 30 years !!
The best and most current mediumwave listing for Europe is at http://www.emwg.info/

    Hello there,
Radio Andorra was using the 702 kHz with 300 kW’s, closed down -82.
Sud Radio was using 819 kHz from andorrian territory.
Today Sud Radio run 819 kHz in France.
702 and 819 kHz are cordinated in Andorra.
