Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas and Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira has said problems of the people of Baltistan, including Skardu and Ghangche districts, would be solved on priority basis. He said that development funds would be enhanced and development projects would be accelerated in these areas to raise living standards.
He also directed the chief secretary to send a report to upgrade Radio Pakistan Skardu with a powerful transmitter [currently 10 kW on 1557 kHz].

all the ten kilowatt, medium wave stations should upgrade, at least with 100 kw digital medium wave transmitter, radio pakistan Bahawalpur is also very old station, and power is weak, this station has played key role, to introduce radio in south punjab, similarly, radio deira ismail khan, and radio pakistan, Faislabad, also want attention from the higher authorties of radio pakistan, Kindly replace old medium wave transmiters and give new direction of prosperity to radio pakistan.
