Qu’ran radio to be launched in Mauritania

Mauritania’s president has commissioned the national radio to establish a Qu’ran radio station to advance the Qu’ranic knowledge of Mauritanians. President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz said there are many Qu’ran reciters, memorizers and experts in the country but because of lack of specialized media they have remained unknown. He also stressed the need for a Qu’ranic media during the holy month of Ramadan.

The Islamic Republic of Mauritania is a country in northwestern Africa with a population of 2.7 million. More than 98 percent of the country’s population is Muslim.
