Power shortfall leads to FM station closures in Nepal

The FM radio stations of Dang and Salyan districts in Nepal failed to conduct its regular transmission starting Monday evening in the wake of a government decision to increase power cut hours. Two radio stations of Dang and two of Salyam came to a halt from last evening, while other three stations are being broadcasted partially in the district.

Tulsipur FM and Ganatantra FM of Dang and Rapti FM and Salyan FM of Salyan have been completely shut due to increased load shedding hours. Radio owners have said that they could not afford to run the stations relying solely on generators. Meanwhile, those FM stations that are broadcasting their services partially are being run with the generators.

The already crippled power supply was badly affected in the western region after the activists of three different students’ unions cut off the 32 kV National electricity transmission line at Lalpur sub-station in Kanchanpur district on Sunday.

I presume the line is a 32 kV HV powerline (and not kW)
