Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has denied that it has banned the transmission of Peace TV in Pakistan. According to a press release issued yesterday, a PEMRA spokesman has said it is a misperception that PEMRA has banned any channel.
The spokesman said that under PEMRA law, it is mandatory to obtain a licence or permission prior to establishing and operating a satellite TV broadcast channel. In the case of foreign or offshore satellite TV channels, operating from outside the territory of Pakistan, “landing rights permission” is mandatory under the law.
Peace TV has neither applied for a licence nor for landing rights permission from the authority. Peace TV is a foreign channel operating from India through satellite. PEMRA has a number of times requested all such satellite TV channel operators to get registered with the authority to legitimise their operations.
The PEMRA spokesman said that the authority has no antagonism to any media broadcaster or individual media outfit, but the only intention is to facilitate healthy media practices under regulatory control.

Here im requested to authorities that please do not take action against PEACE tv bcoz it is channel which promotes our Religion not the channel like Any other Indian channels. so if operators have no registration so ignore that . yes u can banned other entertainment channels if they have no registration.

yea go ahead ban peace tv under the so-called pemra regulatory laws, but please make sure star plus or the likes of it aren’t banned because obviously don’t they touch us social and ‘moral’ ethics?. It doesn’t matter really if people in Pakistan are deprived of the enlightened teachings anyway ? what difference does it make , all we need to do is watch cheeky gossip based soap operas and waste our life’s away :).

Shame on Pakistan for banning Peace TV. I just can’t believe it. It is a Free channel run on donations, and its purpose is to spread the word of Allah. Being a Muslim nation Pakistan should have cooperated in propagating this channel but sadly it is only promoting fitna by allowing all the Indian, western and other entertainment channels. This is SO ironic as well as disheartening.Shame on us! I wouldn’t be surprised if our nation is sent Allah’s aazaab soon because we are only inviting Allah’s wrath. May Allah guide us!

PERMA has not banned PeaceTV, only thing it mentions is that “satellite channels require landing rights permission from the authority”. And there isn’t anything wrong with it. Its a law and it should be followed, whether its StarPlus or PeaceTv or whatever.

Well I would like to reach out to the authorities from this forum that, as a Pakistani, viewer I would love to watch Peace TV.
There fore an alternate way we can be achieved by adding a point in law of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority.
Peace TV should be allowed since it promoting Islam, and it\’s teaching. Its a law designed by people, it should be updated. when we can have a executive orders to change any punishments to individuals, we should at least utilize it for a better cause by allowing channels like Peace TV.

Pemra is giving lame excuses. Actually Government of Pakistan has imposed unofficial ban on peace tv.
Musharraf government changes the order by changing faith with Qaid-e-azam first and clause of Devotion for Muhammad sallaha o Alaih wassallam second then excused by saying it is by mistake.

i am astonished that only for the sake of license pemra has ban pc tv. Even if it is against law pemra should have supported peace tv as it is the only da\’wa channel which is operating in English. We as a Muslim should leave all our rules for the sake of ISLAM and i think nothing is much important than the propagation of Islam. Peace TV was doing an excellent job for answering the allegations made by non-Muslims on islam at the same time educating us how to do it on individual basis. I am so disappointed at this measure of PEMRA. This is why we Muslims cannot earn a place in the world for we cannot support each other. I strongly condemn this act of PEMRA and I pray Allah to give PEMRA some sense to restore transmission of PEACE TV

I would like to request the PEMRA authority that kindly restore peace TV channel and saudia Arabia channelk aswe can see five tiome prayers live from Makkah . If PemRa requires some legal thing to be done why dont they request the Peace TV channel authority to get them registered with PEMRA I am sure PemRa must have done the same with other Foreign channels as well. I am sure Mr. Zakir Naik will have no objection in regestering their channel with Pemra . I hope the officials will take it in to consideration since it it democracy now aand it is people\’s government we expect Pemra to take some correct steps. As peace tv is against extremism and terrorism we should support it.. Allah help us all.

Well i think that the excuse PEMRA putting there is just a cover from the actual fact regarding banning of peace tv….
I heard that PEMRA has banned peace tv because in one of the broadcast program on peacetv, the scholar proved from the islamic laws that the practises which are followed by stock exchange and banking in our region i.e. pakistan n others are all wrong.
I am not sure how true is that on part of PEMRA but i have seen that program which tells about the banking n other financial terms with respect to islamic laws.

Actually the decision is somewhat confusing.If there is landing right issue than why channels like star sports espn star movies star world discovery and national geographic ,that are operating from india, are currently on air. Whatever the reason is first of all ban on channels like Peace Tv, Hadi Tv, Madni, Mubashir, fox history, history channel should be lifted immediately. And there is also a question that does supreme court have the right to direct the lives of people, without first taking their opinion, and closing the information highway.This decision,in the present age of information, is not right. Supreme Court should not have given this decision rather it should direct the PEMRA to ask the operators of these channels to have landing rights. This decision should be reversed or explanations should be given about the decision.

indian and american channels ( star plus, star world, HBO etc.) are available for the people of islamic republic of Pakistan where Hindus, jews and christians are continuously misguiding our youth. whether it is according to the constitution of Pakistan or Pemra regulations? guidance towards darkness and shaitaan is allowed by Pemra and guidance towards Allah s.w.t. and knowledge is banned by Pemra. unfortunately throughout muslim world authorities are against freedom of speech. when pemra authorities are using our tax money and are serving anti islam and anti Pakistan forces, its our duty to built pressure on authorities to restore popular islamic channels.
