Pakistan, China to increase media cooperation

Pakistan and China have agreed to increase cooperation in the media field, Pakistan’s Daily Times newspaper has reported. The agreement was reached at a meeting held between Pakistan’s Information and Broadcasting Minister, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and China’s Vice Information Minister, Wang Quoqing. Under the agreement Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) would purchase the latest equipment to support its plan for modernisation, from China.

Mr Ahmed said PBC has bought seven transmitters from China and is in the middle of finalising the purchase of another 30 transmitters. He added that these efforts were made to ensure a 100 percent coverage of events from Radio Pakistan. In addition, he said the Pakistan Television Corporation Limited (PTV) managing director with a team of engineers would soon visit China to finalise arrangements for the technical training of PTV engineering staff.
