Pacific broadcasters agree to share material

Broadcasters in Fiji and New Caledonia have signed an agreement aimed at improving their coverage of the South-Pacific region. Fiji Television Limited and RFO’s Tele Nouvelle Caledonie will now share information and video footage. The idea is to help both organisations improve their coverage of news in the region.

The editor in chief with responsibility for global affairs at Tele Nouvelle Caledonie, Gonzague De La Bourdonnaye, says this latest partnership will compliment agreements they already have with other broadcasters. “It is important for us is to have a better view of what’s happening in the South Pacific,” he said. “We have already developed [agreements] with Australia and Vanuatu, and we will be able to make an interesting point of view of all that’s happening in the South Pacific area.”

The broadcasters will also exchange journalists and technical expertise from 2010.
