Omrop Fryslân abandons plan to set up youth radio service

In the Dutch province of Friesland, a plan by the regional public broadcaster to start a special Friesian language radio service for young people has been abandoned after a survey of 180 people aged between 15 and 35 showed that there would be insufficient interest among the target group. It was clear from the replies that young people are more interested in other media these days, so the management of Omrop Fryslân have decided not to proceed with the project. There are some existing commercial stations in Friesland aimed at the same target group, but they broadcast in Dutch and not Friesian.
