The Shabelle Media Network (SMN) TV and radio station based in Mogadishu, Somalia, has announced the official launch of Shabelle Satellite Television. SMN says the station covers every single part of Africa, Asia and Australia in the initial stage, to be followed by coverage of Europe and North America in the second phase.
SMN says it is committed to make Somali speaking people everywhere on earth feel that they are not far from home or each other, and provide its audience with a 24-hour broadcast, including live programmes of of news, analysis, business, music, culture and sports.
“This is the result of the tireless effort made by young Somali intellectuals. This shows that we the Somalis can still be in charge of our destiny, compete our counterparts, or even be the front runners. The Somalis are not only those who fight, kill, illiterate, hungry, sick and dying, but there are other who can make progress and achieve success at the world class stage in every discipline” said Mr. Abdulkadir Sharraay, the Shabelle Director of Overseas Operations in London.
