Ireland’s new Christian radio station, Spirit Radio, has been given the green light by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland to commence terrestrial broadcasts in January 2011. The station will launch initially on FM in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway, Waterford and 12-18 months later Spirit Radio will begin broadcasting on AM 612 kHz across the nation. Spirit Radio says it is well on the way to raising its capital launch costs.
The mediumwave frequency was previously used by national public broadcaster RTÉ from a 100 kW transmitter in Athlone, but Spirit Radio will broadcast from its own transmitter site.

612 is also the Sarajevo frequency, I tried to pick that up during the war in Bosnia Herzogowina, but always was irritated by this Irish transmitter.
