City 7 TV, a new channel from Dubai, launches today. The new channel is produced in the UAE with local content and targets English language viewers. It provides a combination of content filmed in the UAE and international programming purchased from outside of the region. The station says its programming will appeal to top business decision makers, young urban professionals, students, homemakers, children and tourists of Dubai.
Mohi Din Bin Hendi, City 7 TV’s President says, “I am proud to announce my involvement in what we are determined will be Dubai’s premier, English language television station. Unlike other broadcasters, City 7 TV produces quality local programming, targeting the local community. Just a fair word of warning - start to look into other industries for work in Dubai if you plan on moving here. The industry is very underdeveloped and the standard is very low. As a result the staff are mainly underpaid South Asian workers.
There are a lot of opportunities here - just not at City 7.
It was a nice idea - just never properly funded or managed. The western ex-employees could write a book about the misgivings of the company! A very unhappy place that is expected to close down very soon.
Try the events, exhibitions, advertising and publishing media industries. (Events pay up to 60% more too!)
Unless you speak Arabic or Hindi - TV is just not the way to go I’m afraid.

Unfortunately most companies will not even read you CV unless you live in Dubai. With so many people coming to Dubai, the days of ex-pat relocation packages are long gone.

As far as my view is concerned, City7 is a Channel i would watch, I have seen the channel what it was 9 months ago and what it is now, u need to either track the stations developments or watch it to get your own opinion, but Jacqui in your case, you might just need to Google / RSS it and find reviews. The Over Friendly Ex - Employee am guessing might have just been asked to leave cause he / she was either a scammer or was a useless asset.

City 7 is awful. Nobody takes it seriously. It looks like a second, no third rate tv station. And this presenter you speak of, was he not that traffic person when they had a morning show? According to Kurt P, they are picky in who they recruit. Seems the opposite. Seems they have no standards and my friends aand I joke that they seem to pull people off the street. And you are right about scammers being there…but I am afraid the scammers and useless assets are the managers and program directors…as they really seem to be putting garbage on the tele.

I think you are being too difficult for this channel. Its very good and I enjoy its programming. I like children show presenter, I very much enjoy cooking show, I like the motor show. but i think City 7 needs to show more indian faces, since we are your prime audience. Please do the needful and think of your watchers. Crciket games, and maybe if you can place some Hindi videos, and soap operas.
