Lebedev has a large stake in Russia’s main independent news outlet, Novaya Gazeta, and is planning to expand this brand having bought two radio licences. He has told Media Guardian that one will become an English-language service for Moscow.

BBC broadcasts in English in Moscow on AM during late morning/afternoon hours and overnight. A VoA AM relay carries English almost all the time (from early morning to midnight). There are two daily English newspapers and various weekly/monthly publications in Moscow.
