Two new Dutch public broadcasting organisations launch their programmes today, both run by the Telegraaf Media Group, which publishes the Netherlands’ biggest-selling newspaper de Telegraaf. WNL (Wakker Nederland - Awake Netherlands) is producing a new breakfast TV news programme on weekdays at 0700 on Nederland 1, and PowNed willl produce an evening news programme on weekdays at 2245 on Nederland 3.
This is just part of the re-organised news output of Dutch TV. The long-running current affairs programmes Nova and Network have disappeared from the schedules, and are replaced by two new programmes. A programme called Nieuwsuur (Newshour) co-produced by NOS and NTR (an amalgamation of three existing broadcasters - NPS, Teleac and RVU) is scheduled each evening at 2200. WNL is one of three organisations - the others being VARA and EO - that will take turns in producing a new discussion programme on Nederland 2 at 2025 on weekdays.
