Bangladesh’s national radio network, Bangladesh Betar, has a new Director General. He is A K M Shameem Chowhdhuri, who was formerly the Principal Information Officer. He also served earlier as Director General of the Press Institute of Bangladesh and Director General of the Department of Film and Publication. Mr Shameem succeeds Mahbubul Alam as head of Bangladesh Betar.
Established in 1939, Bangladesh Betar transmits through 15 medium wave, two shortwave and 12 FM transmitters. Its network comprises 12 stations and more than 70 studios.
