Radio Television Malaysia (RTM), the pioneer of the country’s broadcasting industry, plays an important role in preserving culture and safeguarding the sensitivities of all, said Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun. This includes RTM’s efforts to uphold ethnic languages through its entertainment programmes and broadcasts in various languages, including the Dusun language, he said.
Speaking in Ranau, Sabah, the Minister said that the broadcast of native songs was not only entertaining but also encouraged the existence of happy families and inculcate good mannerism. He said these efforts were in line with the government’s aim to create a multiracial community which takes pride in the country’s cultural heritage.
