Georgia’s Maestro TV resumes broadcasts

Georgia’s Maestro TV resumed its regular programming early this morning, two days after it suspended broadcast citing technical problems. “All the technical problems are naturally related with finances. Financial problems are partially resolved and the channel is resuming its regular programming,” the TV station’s noon news bulletin said.

Kakha Bekauri, general director of Maestro TV, denied speculation that a company which took over the channel’s management in November 2009 had withdrawn from Maestro TV. The company, which has three-year contract with Maestro TV, was founded by Erosi Kitsmarishvili, who is one of the founders of opposition Georgian Party. Mr Kitsmarishvili, however, says that he is not engaged in the channel’s management since March, 2010 when Kakha Bekauri became the TV station’s general director.
