Lopik FM transmitter power almost back to 100%

The power of the FM transmitters at Lopik carrying Radio 1, Radio 2, 3FM, Radio 4, BNR and Q-Music is almost back to 100% on all frequencies. But there is still a lot of infighting behind the scenes as the various parties involved argue about who is responsible for the situation. Transmission provider Broadcast Partners claims that mast-owner Novec has still not installed fire-prevention equipment in its masts. For its part, Novec issued a statement last week saying that there was evidence of rust in the cables, suggesting that water may have been the cause of the fire on 15 July.

Broadcast Partners says that Novec is causing unnecessary confusion by issuing such interim statements, while the technical investigations into the cause of the fires at Hoogersmilde and Lopik are still going on. Many parties, including Novec, Alticom (owner of the main tower structure), Broadcast Partners, insurance companies and various independent research firms are involved, each with their own questions. A total of approximately 19 experts are involved in the research.
