Two local public radio stations, in Rotterdam and the Hague, have each been fined €1050 by the Dutch Media Authority for breaching the media law. One of the articles in the law states that such local stations must devote at least 50 per cent of their transmission time to informative, cultural and educational programmes, of particular relevance to the place they serve. In this case, both Stichting Lokale Omroep Rotterdam en Stichting Stadsomroep Den Haag failed to reach this figure in 2005, and in fact their performance was even worse than in 2004.
