The Liberia Assembly of God (LAG) Church has broken grounds for the construction of a US$125,000 radio project. The ground breaking for the radio station was performed by Rev Edwin Gbelly Assistant Superintendent of LAG. Performing the ceremony, he said the station upon completion, would be used to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the country.
Rev Gbelly, said the radio project is very crucial to the further expansion of the church, and as such wants members to support it. He said the construction of the radio station is the second project marking the Church’s 100 years of existence.
The General Superintendent of the LAG, Rev Dr. Jimmy Kouh, said the establishment of the radio station is a new strategy to win souls for Christ and a means to get the gospel to those who are unable to go to church. Delivering the keynote address, Star Radio Editor-in-Chief Wellington Geevon Smith praised the Church for the venture and urged the station to broadcast programs that would address national reconciliation and domestic violence which has become common in the Liberian society.
The official launch of the station was performed by the Chairman of the Monrovia City Council Mr Daniel Johnson.
The Liberia Assembly of God was established in 1908 by seven missionaries from the United States.
