The Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) has reached an agreement with US network Time Warner Cable to carry KBS World - its international television channel. The agreement will enable KBS World to potentially reach an audience of two million people in 216 cities in southern California beginning 1 December 2007.
KBS World will now be available to 20 million people across the United States, including local audiences already watching KBS World via Dish Network.
KBS World, a global TV channel from KBS, is a general entertainment channel targeting family audiences and fans of Korean pop culture. It carries dramas, entertainments, documentaries, news and current affairs, and kids’ programming.

I have been a big fan of KBS World on Dishnetwork since its launch for US audience. Most of the programs are fun, educational to watch. It contains long list of entertainment that I wish I could see it on TV 2 years ago. Unlike China-controlled stations like CCTV4, 5, 6, 9 whatever, I have not seen any politics or hardcore propaganda. And the best thing is totally free, well, it still requires you to subsribe the least expensive package from Dish, you are good to go. Great job and thank you, KBS World. Keep up the good work!

The only satellite it is free-to-air on in the Asian region is Indonesia’s Palapa C2. The transmission is in MPEG4 so you will need a suitable receiver, most HD satellite receivers will work just fine.
I’m not sure if the footprint for this service covers South India, It doesn’t reach me here in Australia. In most market KBS World is a pay channel.
