Iran to launch joint TV station with neighbours

The Head of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), Ezzatollah Zarghami, says the country plans to launch a Persian-language television station along with its two neighbours. He said that Iran had agreed to launch a regional TV channel along with Afghanistan and Tajikistan. The IRIB head added that the necessary funding for the channel had been secured. He concluded by saying that the programmes to be aired by the Persian-language channel would satisfy the tastes of different viewers.

Iran has to get real! Tajikistan is too Westernized for an Iranian TV channel to compete with local and esp. Russian media. (I’m afraid Tajiks and Afghans will have only a token representation on this proposed channel.)

I bet the Iranian producers will force every female on that Farsi-language channel to be covered from head to toe. How can they compete with Iran-born Arash videos in Russian like http://www.youtube.com/watch#v=-Csy4lhryf4 or http://www.youtube.com/watch#v=rXwtXxlqv-A ?!! And he sings in Persian, too.
