International Media: AIB launches 2009 search for creativity

The 2009 AIBs have been launched with a call for entries from the world’s media companies. Now in their fifth year, the AIBs are the international media excellence awards organised by the Association for International Broadcasting (AIB). They cover TV, radio, cross-media productions, marketing and technology.

For TV and radio, categories include clearest coverage of a single news event, best current affairs documentary, best creative feature and most creative specialist genre. The category ‘Best mobile or cross-media production’ recognises the changing way consumers are watching TV and listening to radio.

“The 2009 AIBs also look at the vital support roles of marketing and technology”, says AIB CEO, Simon Spanswick. ” We’re looking for examples of best practise and innovative thinking –  marketing ideas that are transferable across borders. As for delivering content to consumers, we want to find the best cost-effective ideas that are also transferable to other organisations – very important in these harsh economic times.”

The 2009 AIBs will also recognise presenters and on-air talent through the international personality of the year awards. Across TV and radio and mobile, the search is on for the people who can engage with and make an impact on audiences.

Since the start of the AIBs, the number of high-quality entries submitted by broadcasters and independent producers from all over the world has risen sharply year on year. The AIB Awards are respected in the international electronic media industry as the international judging panel offers both peer and external review of entries.

The 2009 AIBs are open for entry until 10 July 2009. Judging takes place between August and early October and the Awards will be presented in London on 4 November at a gala evening attended by presenters, editors, journalists, marketers, technologists and executives from media companies all over the world.

Full information about the 2009 AIBs  and how to enter is available online at www.aib.org.uk.
