Indonesia’s broadcasting going digital: Jakarta Post

Indonesia’s analogue radio and television broadcasting will definitely migrate to digital technology soon, according to an article in the Jakarta Post. With the enactment of the 2002 broadcasting law, says the newspaper, the country is going to embrace digital broadcasting. According to Communications and Information Minister Sofyan Djalil, the trial for radio and television digital broadcasting as well as digital TV in mobile phones is in progress.

Speaking at the International Broadcast & Multimedia Expo (IBEX) 2006 last week in The Westin Resort, Nusa Dua, Bali, Djalil said that the adoption of digital broadcasting would result in higher quality broadcasts and it would boost the country’s broadcasting market.
