Happy New Year 2009!

2009Since it’s already 2009 in some parts of the world, this is to wish all our readers, wherever you are, the very best for the year ahead. It looks like being an eventful year in the media, as the global economic recession starts to affect commercial and public broadcasters alike. I will continue to report the most interesting media stories from around the globe, and in particular from the Netherlands. But if you want to read gossip, rumours or speculation, you’ll have to look elsewhere!

Brilliant post, especially the bit about having to look elsewhere for the gossip, rumours and speculation. I, myself, will not be going out of my way to find such ( although one cannot help but stumble upon it sometimes ).

I’m also glad to hear about the promised emphasis on the Dutch media. In respect of the recession, I’m not sure in what way you expect it to affect the broadcasters but the increase in technological development is directly related to the sales of electronic equipment, as we saw when numerous people started to buy mobile phones, flat TV screens etc. so I wonder if we will see a slow down there. We’ll never know, of course.

Finally, I should like to return the wishes. Happy New Year !
