Happy New Year!

I have just returned from my Christmas break in the UK. Travelling late on New Year’s Eve seems to be a good choice - London’s Stansted Airport was fully staffed and all services were open, but there were only a few hundred passengers in the terminal instead of the usual thousands. The normally hard-pressed security staff had time for a laugh and a joke with passengers, something that is impossible, and indeed discouraged, on most days. The easyJet flight crew were in festive mood, and one of the flight attendants had the passengers in hysterics when we arrived in Amsterdam and she announced “Welcome to Liverpool”, and compounded the error by giving the time in UTC. 

I’ll be spending 1st January catching up on what has been happening in the media while I’ve been away. Meanwhile, I wish all regular readers of this Weblog all the best for 2008.
