Google’s Gmail site suffered a major technical breakdown for several hours today that prevented users around the world from accessing their accounts with the popular email service. ”If you’ve tried to access your Gmail account today, you are probably aware by now that we’re having some problems,” said a statement posted on Google’s website by Acacio Cruz, Gmail’s reliability manager. Gmail users “worldwide could not get access to their email,” it said.
Google later said the problem had been fully resolved and access to the accounts restored. Google sparked online panic last month when a glitch temporarily prevented users from visiting any websites in search results.
