When I saw this headline, my mind immediately went back to the Radio Sweden Saturday Show that was very popular with shortwave (and European mediumwave) listeners in the 1970’s. For those who yearn for something similiar to the antics of “Kangaroo Kim” and Roger Wallis, we may have found something for you: every Friday, radio station KCSC at California State University broadcasts “The Swedish Morning Show” at 8-10 am local time, presented by Christian Falk Winland and Christian Wester. It’s also broadcast online at www.kcscradio.com.
Read more about the programme in The Orion. And if you’re too young to remember the original Saturday Show, which the two student presenters certainly are, you can read about it and listen to some airchecks on Radio Sweden’s website.

Ah, yes! The Saturday Show! A half hour of it every Saturday night (Sunday morning UTC) to North America, where I first heard groups with names like “The Tages”. Right at the beginning of my shortwave experience with my newly minted Heathkit GR-54, Roger Wallis was my first exposure to European pop and rock music (apart, of course, from British Invasion bands like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, et al). Shortly thereafter I discovered Radio Luxembourg and then I seem to remember Radio Nordsee International hitting the air. I always lamented that I could only hear a mere half hour of that Swedish Saturday night “zoo”. Great memories, Andy!

Commenting on a very old thread here …
I work as a free lance journalist and I’m thinking about in some way documenting the times of The Saturday Show on Radio Sweden International, when Sweden ruled the waves for a couple of hours
Comments from people as you guys above will be nice if the projects becomes a reality.
