First Anglo–Polish FM radio programme launches on 1 September

Radio ORLA logoRadio ORLA, the Internet-based radio station aimed at the UK Polish community, has teamed up with Hayes FM, the brand-new multilingual broadcaster in west London.  The target audience is the nearly 30,000 Poles living within the FM catchment area. This is the first time that a Polish-language commercial broadcaster is to be available on FM in the United Kingdom.

ORLA will be providing Lukasz Foster’s bilingual shows - in Polish and English - to listeners of Hayes FM 91.8 MHz. Polish-born Lukasz speaks fluent English, Polish and French and will be heard on Hayes FM at 7 pm to 9 pm (1800-2000 UTC)  on Saturdays.

George Matlock, managing director of Radio ORLA, says: “Radio ORLA is very pleased to have been approached with this proposal as it is an endorsement of our content and established position in the market for Polish programming.”

The station launches on September 1. ORLA is just one of many media outlets which opened up after large numbers of Poles migrated to the UK when Poland joined the EU in 2004. The station broadcasts on www.orla.fm, attracting 4,000 listeners a day with its diverse English, Polish and Slovak language broadcasts.
