FCUK FM prepares to launch on Sky Digital

With a slogan of “None Of The Hits, None Of The Time”, a new radio station called FCUK FM launching shortly to listeners in the UK and Ireland on Sky Digital will rule out chart and pop music from its playlist and will consist of just the best of new British music from genres such as Indie, Rock, Dance and “cool” R’n'B music. FCUK is the controversial brand name used by the UK branch of clothing company French Connection, which has 70 retail stores across the country.

Technical facilities and uplinking to the Eurobird satellite are being provided by World Radio Network (WRN). WRN has created an integrated playout facility for Delicious Digital, the music communications house that is managing FCUK FM. Richard Jacobs, WRN’s Business Development Manager, says, “this has been a tough project for our team but they have risen to the challenge and created this unique playout facility in record time.”

The system has the built-in ability to switch from the station’s live studios at the flagship FCUK store in Regent Street to digitally stored audio, captured throughout each broadcast day. The WRN facility also gives the station’s programmers access to live output from other sources, as and when desired.

Ian Taylor, Director of Delicious Digital, is very excited about the project, “the huge FCUK FM promotional campaign has created an amazing buzz and the station is going to blow everyone away!”
