The European satellite operator Eutelsat is considering development opportunities in Asia provided they have the potential to be profitable, the company’s general director said today. “We are paying attention to existing opportunities” in Asia “but we will not act unless they allow us to carry on with our profitable growth model,” Michel de Rosen told a press conference. He said that while Asia held out promising prospects, “the prices prevailing there are much too low.”
Eutelsat currently operates in Europe, the Middle East and Africa “but cannot be indifferent to the potential in Asia,” Mr de Rosen said. In November the company signed a cooperation agreement with Hong Kong-based Asia Broadcast Satellite.
