Eurovision Song Contest now available on iPhone

For the upcoming Final of the Eurovision Song Contest [Saturday evening 16 May], the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has released a new iPhone application. The features include news, gossip, fan stories and all the information about Moscow, this year’s Host City. It’s possible to see all participants’ videos and lyrics and even to buy their music online.

“Over the past years, we have turned the Eurovision Song Contest from a television event into a cross-media experience. We are now proud to present Europe’s favourite TV show on the hugely popular iPhone” said Bjørn Erichsen, Director of Eurovision TV. “Thanks to this new application, the most important information about the Contest and its participants will also be available to a mobile audience, anywhere and at anytime” concluded Erichsen.

“For us it’s symbolic to also be available on the iPhone as the Eurovision Song Contest is a state-of-the-art TV show and the iPhone has defined a new standard in mobile computing. Connecting the two just seemed logical,” said Nicoletta Iacobacci, Head of Eurovision Interactive TV at the EBU.

The free application is available from the iPhone App Store.
