Latest Dutch radio listening figures: resurgence for Radio 10 Gold

The Dutch radio listening figures for Oct/Nov 2008 were released yesterday by research bureau Intomart GfK. The survey is based on the listening diaries of 9543 respondents aged 10 years and over. Both market leader Radio 538 and Radio 2 saw a slight drop in their audience share. Sky Radio was stable, but it was a good month for public network 3FM which saw its share rise to 8 percent.

The biggest loser this month was Radio Veronica, whose share dropped 0.5 percentage points. Conversely, Talpa’s Radio 10 Gold, which has only cable and Internet distribution, increased its share by 0.3 percent and overtook 100%NL, which had a slight fall for the second month in a row. However, recently major additions to its cable distribution mean that 100%NL expects to increase its share in 2009.

Radio 10 Gold’s Programme Manager Roland Snoeijer told Radiofreak.nl he was delighted with the increase in share. “We’re very thankful that the listeners of Radio 10 Gold know where to find us on cable and Internet following the loss of our terrestrial frequencies. It also proves there’s still a great interest in a station that plays the greatest hits of all time.”

Another station that had a good month was the public network for the over 50s, Radio 5, which added another 0.2 percent to its share. But in terms of percentage increase over the previous month, the clear winner was TMF Radio, which jumped from 0.2 to 0.5 percent, an increase of 250 percent!
