Research bureau Intomart GfK today released the Dutch radio listening figures for August/September 2008, based on the listening diaries of 9,381 respondents aged 10 years and above. This month it’s the public networks which have seen the biggest changes in market share, with Radio 2 creeping up by 0.5% on market leader Radio 538, whose share remained unchanged from last month.
On the other hand, newstalk network Radio 1 saw its share drop by 0.8%, which at first glance is quite surprising bearing in mind that the end of the survey period included the world financial crisis. But Radio 1’s audience had been inflated in the summer by coverage of the World Cup and the Olympics, and its share of 7.3% is closer to the norm of the past several years. Business News Radio was stable at 0.7%.
Sky Radio dropped by 0.4%, but it was a good month for Radio Veronica which increased its share by 0.5%. Arrow Classic Rock also made a gain of 0.3%, suggesting that the decision to drop the ill-fated Adam Curry breakfast programme may have attracted back some listeners. Other stations saw only minor adjustments to their share compared to the previous month.
The market shares in percent (July/August in brackets) were as follows:
- Radio 538 10.7 (10.7)
