The Commercial Radio Association in the Netherlands (VCR) says that Monday’s published listening figures for August/September show that more people are listening for longer than ever before to commercial radio. The commercial broadcasters now have a combined market share of 51%, and almost 60 per cent of all Dutch people listen at least once a week to a commercial station.
VCR Secretary Erik de Zwart says “The Dutch people have embraced commercial radio. Since last year’s frequency redistribution a lot more people can listen to commercial radio. And the commercial stations know how to provide highly entertaining programmes. The Association is happy with these developments, and expects its members’ share of the listening audience to increase further.”
