Croatian Radio Television gets supervisory board

Public service broadcaster Croatian Radio Television (HRT) should be getting a new supervisory board, the government announced yesterday. According to amendments to the current broadcasting law being discussed by parliament, HRT would get an administrative council, a supervisory board and a programming board, elected by Parliament on recommendations from the Media committee.

The government emphasised that the public service’s accounting would be distinguish between public and commercial revenue.

The amendments to the Law governing HRT include forming an agreement between the government and the broadcaster that would include a commitment of 5-year programming and a financial framework. HRT would be financed by both fees and commercials. The duration of advertisements would be limited to nine minutes per hour, and to six minutes between the hours of 6pm and 10pm, the Croatian portal Business reports.
