Content is the spur that compels broadcasters to keep creating better platforms of delivery, a leading Malaysian broadcaster told an international conference in Kuala Lumpur today.
“Content and technology - it’s like a chicken and egg situation, isn’t it?” Kudsia Kahar, AMP’s General Manager, Corporate Strategy/Industry Development, told the ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium 2009. “One simply cannot exist without the other. Coming from a radio programming background, I have always found digitalisation fascinating, simply because it allowed me to get content delivered faster and better to listeners.”
She said the current economic situation in which more and more people were finding themselves should force broadcasters to take a step back and be realistic about what they were creating. “Digital technology when affordable will be embraced, when priced too high up becomes an elitist toy. Finding that balance in the middle, as past experiences of other broadcasters elsewhere have told us, is key.”
Ms Kudsia was giving the welcome address at the four-day symposium, which brings together more than 300 participants from the Asia-Pacific and beyond.
