Cameroon grants four broadcasting licenses

The Cameroonian Government yesterday issued broadcast licences to four private broadcasting companies: Sweet FM, Canal12, Spectrum TV and TV+, according to an official. Canal2 International, Spectrum TV and TV+ (provider of cable TV), were granted television creation and operation licences, while Sweet FM, broadcasting in Douala, received a radio broadcasting licence.

About 203 applications were registered with the High Communication Council in September 2006, seeking to create and operate private audio-visual communication companies in Cameroon.
